Welfare services reaching out to people and improvement of public perception

1. Growth of eup/myeon/dong welfare hubs across the country

  • (Goal of 2017) To be expanded to 2,100 eup/myeon/dongs in 2017 (from 980 in 2016) and to all the eup/myeon/dongs (3,502) in 2018.

    * Changes in eup/myeon/dongs: (before) welfare project reception desk → (after change) identification of people in need of support, provision of necessary services, and case management

    ** Performance results of 2016: Identification of people in need of support and provision of services: 570,000 cases (public support: 180,000 cases, and linkage with the private sector: 360,000 cases, etc.), Visiting counseling: 690,000 cases

  • (Reinforcement of support) Vehicle support for promoting visiting consultation services*, the provision of smart watches for the safety of public officials in charge, and so forth.

    * Preferential support to 33 priority areas (2016) → support to the eup/myeon/dongs (2100 in total) to be included in the 2017 plan

  • (Reinforcement of workforce) Early placement of 1,623 welfare public officials (June, 2017)

2. IT-based identification of welfare blind spots

    • (Use of Big Data) Diversification of blind spot identification methods based on the life cycle, persons eligible for support, etc. (for example, the aged, people with disabilities, one-person households, etc.), and addition of linkage information (from 23 types to 25 types)*

      * Information on persons of bad credit standing and defaulters on the rent of rental housing.

  • (Public-private information sharing) Establishment of a system for sharing information on welfare resources for the purpose of preventing the overlapping or omission of welfare services and promoting the effective utilization of welfare resources (from March, 2017)
    Identification of blind spots using big data
