* No additional confirmed cases have been reported for 33 straight days since July 4.

** #163 (Female, 53) was discharged from hospital after being treated in a general ward, and will be under active monitoring for one week by the local health center in her area of residence.

*** 9 out of the 10 confirmed cases under treatment tested negative for MERS-CoV and are being treated in general wards.

Currently, 7 cases are in a stable condition while 3 are unstable. The 3 unstable cases are relying on devices such as an artificial respirator or ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) for the maintenance of oxygen saturation.

* Among travelers from the Middle East, 5 suspected cases are under quarantine, and 32 contacts are under active monitoring.

a) A 48-year old female who returned from Qatar on July 27 was put under quarantine at hospital on August 5 and took the first PCR test. The test result came out negative on August 5 and she will take the 2nd test on August 7.

b) A 33-year old male who returned from UAE on August 5 was put under quarantine at hospital on the same day and took the first PCR test. The test result came out negative on August 6 and he will take the 2nd test on August 7.

c) A 45-year old male who returned from UAE on July 24 was put under quarantine at home on August 5 and took the first PCR test. The result came out negative on August 6 and the second test is scheduled for August 8. He will be quarantined at hospital on August 7, 9:00 A.M.

d) A 31-year old female who returned from UAE on August 4 was put under quarantine at hospital on August 6 and took the first PCR test. The test result came out negative on August 6 and she will take the 2nd test on August 8.

e) A 13-year old female who returned from UAE on August 6 was put under quarantine at hospital on the same day and took the first PCR test. The test result came out negative on August 6 and she will take the 2nd test on August 8.

**Since July 1, 156 people have come in contact with the suspected cases who returned from the Middle East. These contacts are released from home quarantine when suspected cases test negative for MERS. Due to the revision of MERS guidelines, however, the wording for their quarantine status has been changed from “home quarantine” to “active monitoring” since August 4.
