¨ Table 1. Current status of MERS cases in Republic of Korea

*The 186th case is the spouse of the 132nd case who is in the emergency room at the Samsung Medical Center (Seoul), and is now being under epidemiological investigation.

** Age, sex and comorbidity of deaths

- Sex: Male 22 (66.7%), female 11 (33.3%)

- Age above 60 years old: 27 (81.8 %)

- Comorbidity: the number of high-risk patients in old age or with underlying medical conditions such as cardio-cerebrovascular disease, cancer and chronic respiratory disease is 30 (90.9%).

*** The states of 25 cases are stable and those of 12 cases unstable.

¨ Table 2. Current status of MERS quarantine in Republic of Korea

¨ Update on the Samsung Medical Center (Seoul)

- As of July 4, 15 out of the 16 confirmed MERS cases were transferred to isolated rooms in state-designated medical facilities. The rest was recovered from the infectious disease and left the hospital.

¨ Update on hospitals under strict control

- Kaiser Rehabilitation Hospital and Konkuk University Hospital are added to the list of the hospitals under strict control freed from quarantine including Hallym University Medical Center, Eulji University Hospital, Mediheal Medical Center.

1) - Kaiser Rehabilitation Hospital was put out of quarantine at 12 a.m. on July 5, and will reopen on July 7.

- 328 individuals were released from home quarantine at 12 a.m. on July 5, and 51 individuals will be released as well until July 12. The 133 patients quarantined at other hospitals will be discharged for 4 days between July 7 and July 10.

2) - A quarantine for MERS on Konkuk University Hospital will be lifted at 12 a.m. on July 6.

- 38 individuals will be released from hospital quarantine, and 537 will be freed from home quarantine.
