Expanding infrastructure for in-person outpatient and inpatient care for pediatric COVID-19 patients

PRESS RELEASE
Mar 2, 2022

The Central Disaster Management Headquarters under the Ministry of Health and Welfare (headed by Minister Kwon Deok-cheol) designated 26 more hub hospitals dedicated to pediatric COVID-19 patients to better serve pediatric inpatients and outpatients.

Pediatric hospitals equipped with clinics dedicated to respiratory diseases were mainly selected in collaboration with the Korea Children’s Hospital Association (headed by Park Yang-dong) to ensure safe treatment of both COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 pediatric patients.

The total number of patient beds secured stands at 1,442, and necessary measures will be taken promptly to enable face-to-face examinations and hospitalized treatment from March 2 onwards.

To ensure efficient operation, the hospital list will be shared with the respective metropolitan city/provincial governments, local public health centers, and patient bed allocation teams and disclosed to the public at the request of the designated hospitals.

The Central Disaster Management Headquarters plans to designate more hospitals based on accessibility for those local governments with such hub hospitals in short supply.
