to Conduct Second Introductory Course for Standard Practice (GxP)
- The training will take place at Seoul National University's Siheung Campus
for three weeks from October 29, with 196 participants in total,
including 183 from 42 low- and middle-income countries and 13 Korean bio-industry professionals -
The Ministry of Health and Welfare (Minister Cho KyooHong) announced that, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), the Global Training Hub for Biomanufacturing will conduct a three-week "Introductory Course for Standard Practice (GxP)" at Seoul National University’s Siheung Campus from October 29 to November 14. The program aims to strengthen vaccine production capacity in low- and middle-income countries, including South Korea.
* In February 2022, WHO designated South Korea as a Global Training Hub for Biomanufacturing
This introductory course for Standard Practice (GxP) follows the one for Biologics Development and Manufacturing held in June, making it the second didactic session. Key areas such as biosafety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) will be covered, and 183 international participants from 42 countries, as well as 13 Korean bio-industry professionals and graduate students in relevant fields are set to participate in. The three-week training will be co-organized by the Global Training Hub for Biomanufacturing Support Foundation and the International Vaccine Institute (IVI).
Since its launch, the Global Training Hub for Biomanufacturing has trained 754 participants from 43 countries in 2022 and 1,187 participants from 54 countries in 2023. This year, it plans to train approximately 1,300 people through a range of programs, including theoretical and practical sessions, as well as online courses. As a leading country in biohealth, Korea will continue to take on its responsible role in cultivating global workforce.
Jung Eun-young, Director General of Health Industry Policy at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, stated, "Over the past three years, Korea has played a key role in enhancing global vaccine production capacity with training programs from the Global Training Hub for Biomanufacturing. We will continue to expand and diversify high-quality training programs and increase the number of trainees, further strengthening our commitment to developing global workforce as a leading country in biohealth." ///
